A 10-second cartoon gives you very little time to explain a joke. Our Cat Meow short uses one absurd office prop: a paper shredder treated like a spaghetti maker.
The visual setup
Hazel, a fictional deer colleague, feeds yellow paper into a shredder. An orange tabby cat with a blue tie raises an empty fork. The black bear boss waits with a clipboard. One scene contains all the story information.
Three storytelling choices
- Start while the strange action is already happening, not with a long establishing shot.
- Escalate a single cause-and-effect chain: paper comes out, the cat interferes, and the paper wraps around the boss.
- End with a new moving callback so the final second is a continuation rather than dead time.
Show the result
The animation is fictional and AI-generated. No paper is eaten. We have not claimed that this technique guarantees retention or traffic. What would make the first second clearer to a new viewer?
