Wouldn't hurt loooking into WebComponents. I created an GitHub org specifically for devs looking to build/use vanilla WebComponents.
That means: native support; no unnecessary abstractions; ES for everything; view source just works; minimal or no build tooling necessary. They also work with most/all frameworks.
