MAXIFS Function – Description:

  • MAXIFS Function returns the largest numeric value from the range of input values based on the given condition or criteria.
  • This function supports logical operators such as ( < , > , = , <> , ? , * ).

Syntax:

=MAXIFS(max_range, range1, criteria1, [range2], [criteria2],.. )

Arguments Explanation:

max_range – The input range or array from which the maximum value will be found.

*range1 – * It is the first input range to evaluate.

*criteria1 – * This is the criteria or condition to use on the range 1.

*range2 – * It is an optional one. It is the second input range to evaluate.

*criteria2 – * It is an optional one. The criteria or condition to use on the range 2.

Note:

  • The max_range & criteria_range are should be same otherwise it returns #VALUE! Error.
  • This function ignores the Text , Logical values , Blank cells , and Special symbols.

Examples:

Let’s see some examples to understand this concept easily.

Example 1:

  • In the below screenshot, you can be able to see the max_range in Column D , the criteria_range in Column C.
  • The output value is displayed in Cell G3 ( for Female ) and G4 ( for Male ).
