Use and Customize Ribbon Commands in Excel Office 365 ~ Quick Ways!!

Ribbon Command has buttons and icons for every operation performed in Excel. It is located above the work area of the spreadsheet. Typically, it contains only eight commands on the Excel ribbon. They are File, Home, Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, Review, and View. This article will help you to understand how to use Ribbon Command in Excel 365. Let’s get into this article!! Ribbon Tabs:

  • Excel has a total of eight default ribbon tabs such as File, Home, Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, Review, view, and Help.
  • You can see the Ribbon tabs in the following image.

Show or Hide Ribbon:

If you want to hide the ribbon tab from your worksheet to get more workspace on the sheet, then the following ways might help you to do that.

  • Way 1 – To minimize the ribbon, you need to double-click on any tab name.
  • Way 2 – Use the CTRL + F1 shortcut key to hide the ribbon tab.
  • Way 3 – You need to right-click on any ribbon tab name , and then select the Collapse the Ribbon option from the menu.

  • Way 4 – ** You can also **click the Ribbon Display Options icon in the top-right corner, then select the Show Tabs option from the menu.

Show/Maximize Ribbon:

It also has four ways to maximize the hidden ribbon tab in Excel. Do as follows.

  • *Way 1 – * Double-click on any of the tab names.
  • Way 2 – ** You can click **CTRL + F1 to show the ribbon tab.
  • Way 3 – ** You need to **right-click on anywhere on the ribbon, and then uncheck the Collapse the Ribbon option.

Customize the Ribbon:

You can quickly customize the ribbon in Excel. You can add, remove, rename, reorder, reset ribbon tabs, groups, and commands.

Add Ribbon Tabs and Groups:

  • You need to right-click on any ribbon tab name and then click the Customize the Ribbon option.

  • Then, it will display the Excel Options window , you need to click the New Tab option to add a new ribbon tab and custom ribbon group.

Rename Ribbon Tab:

  • In the Excel Options window , you need to click the tab that you want to rename.
  • Then, select the Rename option.
  • Next, it will display the Rename Dialog Box , you need to enter the name that you want to set.

Add Ribbon Command to Custom Group:

  • Open the Excel Options window.
  • You need to click the custom group that you want to add a command.
  • Then, select one command from the left command list.
  • Now, click the Add button.

Reset Ribbon Tabs to Default:

  • You can reset all customizations or reset only the selected tabs.
  • To do that, you need to click the Reset button.
  • Then, click the reset all customizations or reset only selected ribbon tab option.

Customize the Quick Access Toolbar on Ribbon:

If you use any command most frequently, you can add it to the quick access toolbar. So that you can access it instantly.

  • Quick Access Toolbar has some default commands such as Save, Undo, Redo.

  • Let’s see how to add a new command to the quick access toolbar.
  • Click the down arrow in the quick access toolbar and select the More Commands option from the menu.

  • It will open the Excel Options window.
  • You need to select the commands that are not available in the quick access toolbar.
  • Then, click the Add button and click the OK button.

  • Now, you can see the newly added command in the quick access toolbar as shown in the below image.

Add Developer Tab to Ribbon:

To add the developer tab to the ribbon, follow the below steps.

  • You need to right-click on any ribbon tab name and then click the Customize the Ribbon option.

  • Then in the Excel Options window, you need to check the Developer option under the Customize the ribbon list.
  • Then, hit the OK button.
