I don't know if your linked articles reference them, but Radix DLT uses Leslie Lamport's 'Logical Clock' theory to manage chronology in distributed systems (essentially a distributed ledger, like blockchain). I found it quite fascinating to get my head around (not that I completely understand it yet!). :)
