FirePod is built with a lot of open source software. When we build something that other people could use, or fix something we rely on, we'd like to share it. Here's where we've started.

macos-audio-tap

macos-audio-tap reads the volume level of whatever is playing on a Mac. It started as part of our work on the Firedance app for Mac, and now it's a small Swift package and command-line tool that any developer can use.

It's free under the Apache 2.0 license. Version 0.1.0 is available now.

A Bluetooth fix for iPhone users

FirePod plays music from your phone over Bluetooth. While testing with iPhones, we found that when you switch from one music app to another, the device on the other end could keep showing the name of the first app. The cause was in BlueZ, the Bluetooth software used by most Linux devices.

We've written a fix and sent it to the BlueZ mailing list, so it can reach every device that uses BlueZ, not only ours.
