On the first day of 2023, I am, like most of my peers, struck by the possibilities that the public release of OpenAI ChatGPT holds. I already use it on a daily basis and keep on discovering new applications for it everyday.
My latest request to ChatGPT was :
« I am a back-end web developer and I would like to shift my future learning towards data science. Could you provide me with a roadmap for 4 months to become a data analyst? »
Here was its response:
This seems to be an excellent answer (keeping in mind that ChatGPT was fed from the web until 202). It establishes a good base roadmap, but let’s delve a little further into detail.
My next question :
« Could you write a more detailed curriculum on 4 months so I can become a data analyst ? Maybe you could inspire yourself from online courses that deliver a degree at the end. Here are some examples: Week 1 to 4 : learn SQL Week 4 to 5 : Python and NumPy Week 6 : Create a project etc »
ChatGPT’s answer :
As usual, here is a concise and relevant response. As I would also like to enrich my learning with concrete examples, I asked ChatGPT to add project ideas for each part of the curriculum.
ChatGPT’s answer :
So here I am with a detailed roadmap for 4 months to learn the basics of data science. I arbitrarily chose a 4 month period in order to maintain motivation and stay fresh and interested during my learning. It is obviously impossible to master such a complex subject as data science in a few months, but I remain convinced that short learning sprints are an excellent way to develop new skills as a self-taught learner without losing sight of your goals.
New and unprecedented possibilities are opening up for us. Where it would probably have taken me several hours of research to scour various articles or forums to establish a coherent roadmap, I can get a detailed plan in a few minutes thanks to ChatGPT. If it is still far from perfect and sometimes makes gross errors (yet confidently declared, beware), it is for me the most game-changing open technology of 2022.
