Pope Leo XIV is set to preside over the canonization of Carlo Acutis, who will become the first millennial saint on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Acutis died of leukemia nearly two decades ago at just 15 years old. Years later, people have described miracles after praying to him and he has gained global popularity.
On Sunday morning in Vatican City, Pier Giorgio Frassati, an early 20th-century Italian author who died at age 24 of polio, will also be canonized alongside Acutis.
The canonization of two people who died young comes as religion has been declining among young people, including American Catholics. Acutis was set to become a saint in April during the Jubilee of Teenagers, but Pope Francis’ death at age 88, just days earlier, delayed Acutis' canonization until Sunday by Leo....read more,,,
