Advantage Architecture: Strategy, Culture, and the Middle Ground

This article analyzes the mechanisms of organizational failure that result from the lack of effective strategy translation into daily operations. Drawing on the concepts of Kathryn Ritchie and Richard Rumelt, the text highlights the need to build a so-called Middle Ground—an intermediate layer connecting leaders' vision with operational reality. The authors emphasize that strategy is not merely a document but a central order linking culture, leadership, and resource allocation. Models such as Cynefin, Playing to Win, and Denison's model are invoked to portray the organization as an adaptive system. A key conclusion is the need to maintain intellectual hygiene and build internal institutional agency rather than relying on external consulting products, which allows for real transformation and the achievement of measurable results.
