From Superpredator to Gardener: The Transformation of Homo sapiens

The article analyzes the evolution of the human role in the biosphere, defining humans not as biological, but as institutional-technological superpredators. Through culture and the technosphere, Homo sapiens has broken the natural constraints of predation, leading to the overexploitation of resources (exceeding Earth's biocapacity) and the phenomenon of the Great Acceleration. The author indicates that the contemporary ecological crisis results from the fact that market mechanisms do not reflect actual environmental costs. In the face of crossing planetary boundaries and the destabilization of geophysical systems, transitioning to the role of "Gardener" becomes a systemic necessity. The text emphasizes that the Anthropocene is an effect of the industrial technosphere's operation rather than just the biological traits of the species, which requires a fundamental change in the institutional design of Common Good governance.
