Relational Ecology and Cognitive Pluralism | Forest Euphoria

The text analyzes the relationship between cognitive categories and the processual nature of the biosphere, rejecting both naive realism and extreme constructivism. The author invokes the process philosophy of biology, pointing to organisms as dynamic systems of matter and energy exchange, illustrated by the example of mycelium networks. It introduces the concept of relational autonomy, in which an individual possesses real boundaries but develops through environmental and social dependencies. A key element is the use of queer ecology as a methodological tool to identify errors in simplified models of binarity and hierarchy. Epistemic pluralism allows for increased cognitive resolution, enabling an understanding of biological plasticity without losing scientific rigor, which leads to the deconstruction of rigid social norms based on erroneous interpretations of biology.
