The inclusion trap and Kristina Lepold's theory | Emancipation

The article critically analyzes the politics of recognition within the framework of Kristin Leopold's theory, highlighting the phenomenon of the so-called inclusion trap. The author argues that the mere inclusion of marginalized groups into an existing system is often superficial—it allows for the visibility of the subject but does not alter hierarchical power structures or the categories through which this recognition occurs. Symbolic gestures and praise (e.g., in care work or the precariat) may serve as tools masking the lack of real resource redistribution and institutional protection. True emancipation, therefore, requires not only acceptance but, above all, systemic transformation, the denaturalization of prestige, and a change in the rules of the game, rather than merely admitting new people into the "old room" on the terms of the dominant majority.
