The Truth Trap: How to Survive Cognitive Inflation?

In an era of cognitive inflation, accumulating knowledge is no longer sufficient; the ability to quickly verify it and reject outdated beliefs becomes crucial. This article deconstructs four modes of thinking—the preacher, the prosecutor, the politician, and the scientist—pointing to the latter as the only effective adaptive strategy. The author argues that the ability to unlearn is a hard-core strategic competence, not a psychological add-on. Moving from a culture of results to a culture of learning requires building trusting humility and psychological security. The text encourages treating one's own views as working hypotheses subject to constant revision, thus avoiding the trap of reasoning and the toxic economy of outrage in public debate.
