Why 1,950 Google Impressions Produced Only 2 Clicks

Why 1,950 Search Impressions Still Produced Only 2 Clicks

ZonePlan is a free time-zone meeting planner. In the latest 28-day Google Search Console window it recorded 1,950 impressions, 2 clicks, a 0.1% CTR, and an average position of 44.7.

That combination points to a specific problem: Google has discovered the topic, but most pages are not yet competitive enough to earn clicks or broad index coverage. Search Console currently reports only 4 indexed pages and 89 not indexed.

The useful page to start with

Instead of adding another generic homepage backlink, I am strengthening one high-intent guide:

How to schedule a meeting across time zones

The guide connects the search problem to the actual free time-zone meeting planner. It explains a practical workflow:

  1. Write down every participant's city, not just an abbreviation.
  2. Compare local working-hour windows.
  3. Check daylight-saving differences for the meeting date.
  4. Rotate inconvenient times for recurring global meetings.
  5. Send the invitation with UTC and local times clearly stated.

Why this is a better backlink target

A deep link should support a page that answers one clear search intent. Linking every external mention to the homepage concentrates signals on a generic URL while dozens of useful internal pages remain weakly discovered.

ZonePlan already has route-specific converters, meeting scenarios, comparison pages, and educational guides. The current bottleneck is not page count. It is crawl prioritization, internal hierarchy, and relevant references to the pages that deserve to rank.

What I will measure next

This is an evidence-driven experiment. I will watch the next Search Console windows for:

  • indexed-page count
  • impressions for the guide
  • average position for meeting-across-time-zones queries
  • clicks and CTR

IndexNow submission is only a discovery request. It is not proof of Google indexation. The acceptance signal is a later Search Console change.
