I Built a Programming Language Solo — Everyone Said It Was Impossible. Then AI Changed Everything.

Triad 2.0 – Beta 5 is out

A few months ago, I had an idea that sounded absurd: build my own programming language. Not a toy interpreter from a tutorial — a real language with syntax, parser, CLI, editor support, and tests. By myself.
Everyone (including past me) said it was impossible. One person, no team, no budget.
They were right. Without AI.
How it actually happened
AI didn't write Triad for me — it made the impossible tractable. My role became architect and director:
I designed the language: philosophy, syntax, semantics
AI accelerated the grunt work: parsers, tooling, VS Code extensions, docs
I verified everything by hand: every test output, every release, every line that shipped
The result is a language that teaches programming fundamentals through an essential, readable syntax — and a full ecosystem around it.

What's in Beta 5
✨ The language: minimal syntax, .triad / .td files, conformance test suite
🛠️ CLI (triad-cli): run programs, conformance tests, package extensions
🖥️ VS Code extension: syntax highlighting + .vsix packaging from the CLI
🌐 Interactive playground in the browser — no install needed
🐧 Linux compatibility: rootless POSIX installer, proper bin/ launchers, freedesktop integration
📚 Bilingual docs (IT/EN), including the project journey diary
🤖 CI quality gates: CodeQL (JS/TS/Python), markdownlint, Codacy fixes

Try it

  1. git clone https://github.com/GPuntobit/triad2.0.git
  2. cd triad2.0 && ./install.sh
  3. triad-cli run hello.td

Or skip the installation entirely and open the playground online.

The real lesson
One person + AI can now ship what used to require an entire team. Not because AI replaces judgment — but because it removes the excuse of "too much work for one person."
The impossible just needs the right time... and the right tools.
