Apple announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K at its Welcome Home event, featuring the A19 chip, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and a standard Ethernet port.
The device functions as a smart home hub with Thread support and HomeKit Secure Video processing, alongside multi-speaker wireless audio pairing capabilities.
The new device features hands-free voice control for Siri, an Ethernet port, and Wi-Fi 7. It’s powered by the A19 processor and serves as a central hub for your smart home, supporting Thread technology and processing video from security cameras. It also introduces the ability to connect up to four second-generation HomePod speakers or HomePod mini 2 for wireless surround sound.
The previous, third-generation model was released at $129 in 2022, while its price had risen to $199 earlier in 2026.
There are cheaper competitors on the market. Amazon's Fire TV Cube costs $199,99 and features voice control for Alexa, Wi-Fi 6E, Ethernet, and the ability to connect other devices. The Roku Ultra costs $149,99 and includes Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet, the ability to stream content from Apple devices, and a voice-controlled remote.
