Apple is reportedly preparing a robotic HomeView with a 9-inch display that swivels on an arm.
Sensors would let it follow a user during FaceTime calls.
The model is expected to be announced in 2027 and ship in 2028; reports say software work on AI and home automation is delaying launch.
The device is internally codenamed J595, while former company employees say it may be released under the name HomeView Ultra. According to the information, it will feature a 9-inch screen that will be supported by a robotic arm, reminiscent of an articulated table lamp. The device's sensors will allow it to follow users as they move around during video calls.
When is it expected and why is it delayed?
Although the device's hardware has reportedly been ready for two years, the software team is delaying its release in order to improve the artificial intelligence features and home management functions.
This device is placed in a completely different price category compared to the simple $299 HomeView display. The basic version is available in 7-inch or wall-mount variants, with shipments starting on November 13 and pre-orders already open at Apple, Amazon, and Best Buy.
