Bedrock Robotics has raised $600 million in a Series C round at a $4.1 billion valuation.
The 2024-founded startup develops autonomous-driving kits for construction vehicles such as excavators, and moved from testing to commercial operations at active worksites two months before the funding announcement.
The company was founded in 2024 by professionals in the autonomous vehicle and robotics fields, including former Waymo executives. The CEO and co-founder is Boris Sofman. The recent funding round was led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital, with participation from the US Innovative Technology Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, Temasek and Nvidia.
The new funding comes two months after the company moved from testing to full-scale operation on real construction sites. Its autonomous machines are already operating at a water facility in Nevada, a Champion Site Prep site in Texas, and a Zachry Construction Corporation project. Arizona-based general contractor Haydon has also joined the company’s new partners.
Bedrock is focusing on automating construction operations primarily due to the shortage of skilled operators and future retirements in the industry.
