Engadget’s first 2026 product picks are based solely on test scores, with some categories still awaiting fall announcements.

One configuration-level comparison stands out: the tested 8GB Dell XPS 13 was judged insufficient for Windows 11, while the tested 16GB version was noticeably better.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 14-inch display. Editor Sam Rutherford called it too big and noted that its price is high.

The base model of the Dell XPS 13, which we tested earlier this year, had 8GB of memory. Rutherford found that to be insufficient for Windows 11. Engadget also tested a mid-range model with 16GB, which the author found to be noticeably better. He acknowledged, however, that the 8GB model could be a good fit for those on a budget, though it's not ideal.

The Qalo SL-1 is a screenless fitness tracker. It's made by Qalo, a company that makes silicone rings. Editor Daniel Cooper thought the device would be more appealing if it cost less. He said there are better alternatives, even when you factor in the additional subscription fees.

The Una is a GPS watch that allows the user to change components, such as the back cover, screen and battery. Cooper praised its affordability, design with interchangeable parts and ease of repair.
