Epic Games confirmed Fortnite is coming to Linux with an Ubuntu launcher preview and the introduction of Easy Anti-Cheat 2 for Linux.
The new anti-cheat architecture requires Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, a signed kernel, IOMMU support, BPF LSM modules, and disabled Kexec.
Game protection and system requirements
To make the game work on Linux, the company redesigned the anti-tampering system, creating Easy Anti-Cheat 2. This new technology requires the computer to have secure boot enabled, a special security chip, a signed kernel, support for isolated memory control, additional security modules, and the fast kernel restart feature disabled.
Because these requirements affect the overall operation of the computer, the company suggests that users maintain a separate option at system startup with the necessary settings, which they will use exclusively when gaming.
The trial application and the problems
The new game management app was created using AI-powered code generation techniques. The trial version is available for Linux directly from the company as a single application file.
