GNU Nano 9.3 released with two fixes that make it easier to use

GNU Nano 9.3 (“Damiana”) fixes two usability issues without adding features: long filenames are shortened to fit the information bar, and numeric-keypad operator keys now enter their labeled symbols.

The release leaves keyboard shortcuts and the editor’s core behavior unchanged.

The program's small information bar displays, among other things, the name of the file the user is editing. If the name is too long, version 9.3 shortens it to fit on the line. Also, the +, -, *, and / keys on the numeric keypad now enter the symbols written on them.

The keyboard shortcuts and basic functionality of the program remain unchanged. Those who install Nano from their Linux distribution's software repositories will receive version 9.3 when it is released by the distribution's maintainers.
