Asked myself something uncomfortable this week. If XEdge disappeared tomorrow, what would the people using it actually lose.
Not what I would lose, the time invested, the identity wrapped up in it. What they specifically would lose.
The honest first answer that came to mind was weak. They'd Google it instead, or ask ChatGPT, and probably get something close enough. That's not nothing, but it's not a strong answer either.
Sat with it longer and the better answer emerged slower. What they'd actually lose is the saved stack tied to their specific goal, the execution guide that goes with it rather than just a tool name, and increasingly, a small but real community of people sharing what genuinely works for them instead of a ranked list pretending to be neutral.
Still not sure that's a fully strong answer yet. Worth being honest about that rather than pretending it's settled.
The exercise itself feels more valuable than whatever answer it produces though. Most builders can describe their product fluently. Far fewer can answer, cleanly and specifically, what real absence would look like if it vanished. That gap between description and consequence is worth checking regularly, not just once.
