From transcripts to living memory: a practical design for safe proactive agents

Most “AI memory” features are still archives with better search. That helps retrieval, but it does not solve the operational problem: a system needs to know what changed, what depends on it, and which next step is safe to prepare.\n\n## Treat memory as connected, inspectable state\n\nA useful working-memory layer should preserve more than text:\n\n- the people, projects, decisions, and commitments mentioned in a session\n- the source evidence behind each extracted claim\n- changes or contradictions introduced later\n- the confidence and freshness of each relationship\n\nThat turns a transcript into something reviewable instead of an opaque summary.\n\n## Prepare actions; do not silently own them\n\nThe second design constraint is autonomy. A good agent can assemble a brief, draft a follow-up, collect open questions, or prepare an update. It should pause before a new permission, external commitment, destructive action, or consequential judgment.\n\nThis is the implementation direction we are exploring with Klik: app-first capture, living memory, and bounded proactive execution. The goal is not to replace a person’s judgment; it is to make the relevant context and the next safe action easier to review.\n\nWhat data model or approval boundary has worked best in your own agentic workflow?\n\nProduct context: https://hiklik.ai/
