Google Meet is getting a major upgrade: it can now translate your speech in real time and even preserve your voice, tone, and expression. Announced at Google I/O, this new Gemini-powered feature is rolling out in beta for users on the AI Pro or AI Ultra plans.
During a call, if your conversation partner enables speech translation, Meet will not only start dubbing your voice into their preferred language, but also will start mimicking your vocal inflections. For now, it only supports English and Spanish, but Google says Italian, German, and Portuguese are coming soon.
In today’s world, where teams are spread across countries and continents, this kind of technology is more than just convenient; it’s revolutionary. Google Meet’s real-time speech translation brings us closer to a reality where language no longer divides us, even in fast-paced, high-stakes conversations. By making multilingual communication feel seamless and human, it opens the door to more inclusive, efficient, and truly global collaboration.
