I Built a Better Placeholder Image Generator | dummyimg.in

A while back, I shared the launch of dummyimg.in — a simple tool built to help developers and designers generate customisable placeholder images quickly.

Since then, I've spent time listening to feedback, identifying friction points, and improving the overall experience. Today, I'm excited to share a major update! 🎉

✨ What's New?

⚡ Faster image generation and delivery

🎨 Improved UI with a cleaner and more intuitive design

📱 Better responsiveness across devices

🔧 Optimized performance for a smoother experience

🚀 Enhanced overall UX to make creating placeholder images quicker and easier

One thing I've learned from building products is that launching is only the beginning. The real work starts after users begin interacting with what you've built.

This update wasn't about adding dozens of new features—it was about refining the experience, reducing complexity, and making the tool feel effortless to use.

Building dummyimg.in has been a great reminder that small, consistent improvements can have a bigger impact than large one-time releases. Every optimization, every UI tweak, and every performance improvement contributes to a better product.

If you've used dummyimg.in before, I'd love for you to try the new version and share your feedback. Your suggestions have played a huge role in shaping these improvements.
