Using Unity for the first time was sobering as someone that worked on in-house engines about the same amount of time. But, yes, perf and "AAA features" are.... lacking.
Compared to my indie engine, it has plenty of features, and performance is usually a what you put into it thing. I didn't run into any issues, but granted, my game is tiny and not pushing any limits.
