How to Use Hyperlink in PowerPoint Presentation

If you would like to link to an outside source within your PowerPoint presentation, you have an option of using a hyperlink. You can create a hyperlink using any text within your presentation. When clicked on, a hyperlink can directly link to a specific slide within your presentation, a saved file, a web page, another PowerPoint presentation, or a custom email.

Insert a hyperlink

  • On the slide, enter the text you want to turn into a hyperlink.
  • Select the text.
  • On the Insert tab of the ribbon, select Link.
  • Select Insert Link. Or: You can link to a recently opened file by selecting it from the Recent Items list that appears.
  • Select Insert. To test the action button, start your PowerPoint slide and click the text or image with the action button.

To insert a link to another slide:

  • Right-click the selected text or image, then click Link.
  • The Insert Hyperlink dialog box will appear.
  • On the left side of the dialog box, click Place in this Document.
  • A list of other slides in your presentation will appear. Click the name of the slide you want to link to.
  • Click OK.
