I am working on my math game, Jesse Math Rockstar, and I have hit a major design crossroads. I really need your honest feedback on whether I should keep the current Rock Theme or completely pivot to a Football Theme.
Here is my dilemma and why I am considering the switch:
🎸 The Rock Theme Dilemma
Right now, the game has a rock and roll music vibe. However, the educational math market already has massive, established giants dominating this space—specifically platforms like Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS). Competing with a giant that already owns the "Rock Star" identity makes it incredibly hard for a new indie game like mine to stand out and find its own unique audience.
⚽ The Football Theme Pivot
On the flip side, switching to a football theme opens up a lot of exciting features that kids and gamers love:
- Customisable Jerseys & Badges: Players can unlock, collect, and design their own team kits and club crests.
- League Formats & Tournaments: Instead of just getting high scores, players can climb up divisions, win league trophies, and participate in knockout cups.
- Transfer Market & Team Building: Correct math answers could earn coins to "sign" new players or upgrade stats, building a dream squad.
- Matchday Hype: Replacing stage performances with stadium matches, crowd cheers, and game-winning goals.
