The importance of continuous improvement

“Continuous Improvement” is almost a buzzword these days. But I take it to heart. I’m constantly looking for ways to improve my business, my code, even my personal life.

Even the smallest improvements add up over time.

Gene Kim, co-author of The Phoenix Project, has a famous quote, which I think is very relevant:

Improving daily work is even more important than doing daily work.

It may be possible, in principle, to take this to an extreme. But I’ve never met a team, let alone an individual, who was any real danger of this.
