What Are Your Favorite Kid Riddles?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking for new ways to keep my kids entertained that don’t involve screens, and one thing that has really caught their attention lately is riddles. They’re short, clever, and perfect for sparking conversations during car rides, family dinners, or even before bedtime. The best part is watching my kids’ faces light up when they solve one, or the laughter that follows when the answer is totally unexpected.

Some of the classics have been a big hit in our home. For example: “What has a face and two hands but no arms or legs?” (Answer: A clock). Or this one: “What can you catch but not throw?” (Answer: A cold). These little puzzles are easy to remember and always bring smiles, but now my kids are asking for more variety.

That’s why I thought it would be fun to ask this community for help. Do you have any clever kid riddles that your children or students can’t get enough of? I’m especially interested in ones that are simple enough for younger kids to enjoy but still tricky enough to make them think for a minute before shouting out the answer.

I’d also love to know if anyone here has ever made up original riddles with their kids. Mine sometimes invent their own, and while they don’t always make perfect sense, the creativity behind them is priceless. Sharing homemade riddles could be a fun twist to add here as well.

Let’s see if we can put together a collection of the best riddles for kids, a little treasure chest of brain teasers that parents, teachers, and caregivers can dip into whenever they need a quick dose of fun.

Can’t wait to hear your favorites!
