I built a Mac app that blocks the feeds I keep opening on autopilot

I kept reaching for the same feeds whenever work got slightly uncomfortable.

Not the whole sites. Just the surfaces designed to pull me into a scroll loop.

So I built Monk Mode for Mac.

It blocks things like:

  • YouTube Home
  • YouTube Shorts
  • X For You
  • Reddit front pages
  • other feed-style distraction surfaces

The goal is not internet jail.

The goal is to leave intentional use alone. Search still works. Direct links still work. The endless feed entry points do not.

If you have tried screen time apps, site blockers, or focus tools and still found yourself slipping back into doomscrolling, I would love your blunt take on whether this approach is actually better.

Monk Mode is here: https://mac.monk-mode.lifestyle

It is $15 lifetime.
