Friends, I couldn’t be happier to announce that I’ve joined Arcee.ai to help enterprise customers build high-quality and cost-effective AI applications with small language models.

Reuniting with founders Mark McQuade and Brian Benedict, my former partners in crime at Hugging Face, is fantastic. I’m also looking forward to working with the excellent crew they’ve assembled.

Why Arcee? Well, I’ve met close to 250 customers in the last year. All of them are certainly eager to use AI to turn business challenges into business value. A huge majority understands the benefits of small language models vs. closed models. However, none of them are excited about wading through thousands of models or reinventing the MLOps wheel by stitching open-source libraries, inference servers, cloud services, and whatnot.

Customers want to focus on solving business challenges, period. They want to quickly find the best model to start from and improve it for their domain in a few clicks, while keeping costs under control and proving ROI out of the box. And they want to do it again and again on many different projects. I believe Arcee is on the right path to deliver that promise.

If you’d like to know more about Arcee, VentureBeat had a nice story yesterday about Series A.
