I built a small, focused 2026 World Cup tracker for fans who want the essentials without opening five different pages: schedule, groups, standings snapshots, key fixtures, and the new qualification rules for the 48-team format.
The site is here: https://wc2026.info/
A few implementation notes:
- The frontend is built with Next.js and TypeScript.
- The page is designed around quick scanning on mobile: today's matches, group snapshots, and qualification rules are all reachable from the home page.
- The site supports multiple languages, so search traffic and fans from different regions can land on localized content.
- SEO basics are handled through sitemap generation, metadata, RSS, and structured content pages.
The main design choice was to keep the page useful during the tournament itself. When fans search for a match day, group, or qualification rule, they should get the answer quickly instead of fighting through a news homepage.
If you follow football or build content-heavy sites, I would love feedback on what should be easier to scan before the tournament starts.
