When something like this happens and takes up ~an entire day, do you ever feel like it's been a day wasted? For me, when I spend that long working on one bug I really start doubting myself and imposter syndrome just sneaks right in.

At all Sharkie! And that was the whole point of this post, to share with others that sometimes what seems simple is not so simple and it is okay! I have more than 15 years of experience and this has happened frequently enough that in retrospect it makes me laugh. The other way to see it is that these "side quests" is how you learn and consolidate your experience, either by harming something new along or learning what NOT to do. The major point to remember is that it will very rarely happen to you twice because of the same cause, since after all again, we do learn from our mistakes. Simply accept them as unintended required side quests that rewards you with experience, stamina points and other goodies on your way to complete your main mission! 😉
