This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle
What I Built
wb-starter is a zero-dependency web framework built with AI in mind, available
now on npm: https://www.npmjs.com/package/wb-starter
You build a site with plain HTML attributes, with no build step:
- 167 behaviors. Add an attribute and the element gains that ability.
- 50 themes. Change the whole look with one setting.
- 0 dependencies. Nothing to audit, nothing to break.
- Schema-driven. Every behavior has a JSON schema, so your AI assistant reads exactly what each one accepts instead of guessing.
The side hustle: anyone can turn out a professional client site in an afternoon
and host it free on any static host (GitHub Pages, Netlify, Cloudflare). Build
sites for local businesses, charge for the work, and pay nothing for hosting or
licenses.

How I Built It
I built this project with Claude, and along the way learned what it takes to make
code publishable: tests on every change, CI on every pull request, and releases
published to npm automatically from GitHub Actions.
Claude is extremely powerful, but it needs your full attention on what it
produces. It will confidently tell you something shipped when it hasn't. I'm happy
to share that story if anyone is interested.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
With AI, nothing is really closed any longer, so I might as well join in. The more
people working with us, the better.
BYAI: Bring Your Own AI. Because every behavior is described by a schema, any
assistant (Claude, Copilot, or whatever you already pay for) can build with
wb-starter. You don't need a new subscription, and that cuts costs.
