From Zero to Cloud: My First Google Cloud NEXT ’26 Experience

This is a submission for the Google Cloud NEXT Writing Challenge.

Before this, I had no practical experience with cloud computing. I had only heard about it in classes and online, but never explored it myself.

Google Cloud NEXT ’26 gave me the opportunity to take my first step and understand how cloud technology works in real scenarios.

The Starting Point

When I first opened the Google Cloud Console, it felt confusing. There were many services and options, and I did not understand how they were connected.

Instead of getting stuck, I started exploring step by step and focused on understanding the basics.

What I Explored

I spent time learning:

  • How the cloud platform is structured
  • What different services are used for
  • How developers use cloud to build and manage applications

What I Learned

Through this experience, I understood that cloud computing is not just about storage or servers. It helps in building scalable and efficient systems.

Some key learnings:

  • Cloud platforms simplify application deployment
  • Resources can be managed more efficiently
  • Cloud and AI together are becoming important in modern development

Challenges I Faced

As a beginner, I faced a few challenges:

  • The interface was difficult to understand at first
  • Many terms and services were new
  • It took time to understand how everything works together

Why This Experience Matters

This was my first real exposure to cloud computing. It helped me move from basic understanding to practical awareness.

I gained confidence to explore more and improve my technical skills.

Final Thoughts

Google Cloud NEXT ’26 is a good starting point for beginners who want to understand cloud technology and current industry trends.

Conclusion

Starting from zero is not easy, but taking the first step is important. This experience has motivated me to continue learning and growing in the field of cloud computing.
