Get **** done. I hate what Trello has become

Karsten Biedermann on February 11, 2026

I hate productivity tools. Not in a cute, ironic way. I mean I genuinely hate how they look, how they feel, and what they've turned into. They're ...

I use MS TO DO (I know is MS -_-) but I have less tasks to do, so... and also sync in auto whit MS bull***** account, which is almost-mandatory right now for W11

I try Frello after your post, is good, simple and functional... should be good a section in settings (whit live preview for custom themes( but can be done easy using Stylus (or any custom CSS tool)

great online tool 👍

Thanks, man 🙏. Simple programs for to-dos are totally fine. But when you want to share them with someone, having a simple and solid solution is pretty great. Otherwise, there’s still Notion, which I actually like to use for notes.

I dont know the development capabilities of this web-app, so Im putting it here as a random-idea:
you could add a group text chat, for quick conversations, and also for quick notes (so conversation is distinct from tasks)

Even as it is now it is very well made :) _ I wish you good continuation of development_

Thanks for your thoughts. In theory, this would be very easy to implement since all the technical foundations are already there. However, there are already very solid messenger tools like Slack that handle this extremely well.
In Frello, you can also use the built-in messenger functionality and invite as many people as you like — you just need to create a task to get started 🙂.

honestly same. every productivity tool eventually becomes the thing it was supposed to replace.

i gave up on all of them and just use a markdown file now. sounds dumb but it works better than any board i've ever used. todo.md with checkboxes. that's it.

the moment you need a tutorial to use a todo app, something went very wrong.

honestly same, it's wild how productivity tools slowly become the opposite of productive - started using Trello years ago for its simplicity and now it's like... where did all these features come from? I think the sweet spot for any tool is right before they decide to 'improve' it with enterprise features nobody asked for. been switching between tools more than I'd like just trying to find something that stays simple

Looks great! What’s your technique stack? What do you use for auth? And how long did it take?

Thank you, Sam 🙏! I built this with Next.js/ React and Supabase (database + auth). I started working on it over a year ago, and now I’m finally at a point where I can truly enjoy using it in my daily workflow.

Couldn't agree more. It starts off clean and simple. Then three weeks later it's a digital junk drawer with 100 cards and nothing getting completed. I'll give this a go! Thanks.

Nice! Love this. I find the hidden upselling tactics I see frequently deployed these days so frustrating.

Yes, exactly — you’re spot on. Tools obviously need to be funded. But more and more, it seems to be about long-term subscription models and maximizing revenue rather than creating truly great products.
