Disclosure: I make Order Minimums & Limits, one of the options below. I've tried to describe every option fairly, including where mine is not the best choice. Prices, ratings and review counts are copied from each option's own page on 23 October 2026 and re-checked on 4 November 2026. Where a page doesn't say something, the table says "not stated" instead of guessing.

The short answer

  • "Orders must be at least $30": use Wix's built-in minimum order amount. It's free and already in your store settings.
  • "At least 3 of this product" or "max 1 per order": use Wix's free Checkout Requirements app.
  • "Only in 6s or 12s": the simplest fix is often to sell the pack as the product. No rule needed.
  • Anything else (a minimum across the whole cart in items, a category minimum, packs within a mix, wholesale-only rules, weight or delivery-country rules): you need an app or custom code. Several apps do this, a few of them free.

"From $X a month" means the price the App Market shows with yearly billing; monthly billing costs more. "Not stated" means the App Market page doesn't mention it. The app may still do it, so ask the developer.

Wix's own options

The built-in minimum order amount

This is the "orders must be at least $30" setting. In your dashboard go to Settings, then Store products & Inventory, and turn on Set a minimum subtotal (Wix guide). It's one amount for the whole order. Wix says it doesn't apply to digital products or store pickup orders.

Fits best: a store whose real worry is small orders not covering shipping or packing.

Checkout Requirements

Checkout Requirements is a free app made by Wix. It has three requirement types: minimum quantity of products, maximum quantity of products, and minimum order subtotal. For each one you choose to show a warning or to block checkout with an error (Wix guide).

The catch most people meet: with All products, "the requirement applies separately to each product (e.g. if you set a 2-product minimum, customers must buy 2 of each product they buy, not 2 products from your shop)". So it can't do "any 6 items" or "any 3 from this category".

On the App Market it has 2.3 out of 5 from 31 reviews. Whatever you use, test the rule on your live site with a real cart.

Fits best: a minimum or maximum on specific products, such as "at least 3 candles" or "1 per order" for a limited release.

Sell the pack as the product

If you only sell wine in 6s, make "6 bottles" the product, or a product option with its own price. Shoppers can't buy 7, and there's no rule that could fail. It gets awkward when shoppers should mix flavours within a pack, or when you also sell single items.

Fits best: fixed packs of one product.

Custom code: the Validations service plugin

With Velo, Wix's Validations service plugin lets you "validate a site visitor's cart and checkout". When your code returns a violation, the shopper sees it, and the Place Order & Pay button "is disabled until the errors are resolved". By default it checks only at checkout; set validateInCart to also check the cart (Velo docs).

Fits best: a store with a developer and a rule no app covers.

App Market apps

Every app below is young: apart from the single reviews on Limitify and StoreBoost, none has a review yet. I haven't tested them myself. The descriptions come from their App Market pages.

  • Limitry: Order Limits & Rules is free with "no rule cap and no paid tier". It covers a minimum or maximum number of items in the basket, caps on chosen products "either separately or across a group", order value, basket weight, and turning away PO boxes, postcodes or countries. If the app fails, "checkout is allowed to continue". Fits best: most stores that need cart-wide limits and don't want to pay.
  • Checkout Rules: Order Limits by Aarsiv Groups limits quantity, spend or weight for the whole store, categories or products, with packs, schedules, coupon rules and an activity log of blocked checkouts. The free plan has 2 active rules and already includes category, spend and weight limits. Pro (from $4.92 a month) adds once-per-customer and first-order rules. Fits best: product drops limited to one per customer, and stores that need several conditions combined.
  • Order Rules & Restrictions by Franky Builds focuses on minimum and maximum order amounts, per-product or per-SKU caps, and blocking delivery by country, state, city, ZIP or PO box. Free for 1 active rule; Pro $4.99 a month billed yearly ($5.99 monthly). Fits best: US stores that mainly want to stop orders they can't ship.
  • StoreBoost - Checkout Rules does per-product and per-variant minimums, maximums and packs on Free (up to 5 product rules). Pro ($2.50 a month) adds category rules, a cart-wide item limit and category totals. It says amounts are "checked after discounts and before tax". Fits best: packs and per-variant limits on a budget.
  • CartWise Order Limits & Upsell combines minimums, quantity limits and packs with hints such as "Add $15 more for free shipping", plus a test-cart simulator. From $3.50 a month after a 14-day trial; no free plan. Fits best: stores that want free-shipping progress hints and limits in one app.
  • Limitify Smart Order Limit MOQ sets minimum and maximum quantities for products or whole collections. It's free and "Verified by Wix". Its one review (3 out of 5) says it "cannot see full product inventory when selecting products". Fits best: simple per-product or per-collection MOQs.

Order Minimums & Limits (mine)

Order Minimums & Limits lets you require a minimum number of items or a minimum spend, cap how many a shopper can buy, or sell items only in packs, like wine in sixes. A rule can apply to the whole order, chosen products, or categories and collections, counted together or per product or variant. When the cart breaks a rule, the shopper sees your message in the cart and at checkout and can't order until it's fixed. You can write your own message per rule or use the default in English, German or Spanish. If anything fails on the app's side, the rule is skipped so the sale can go ahead.

Free: unlimited whole-order and product rules (quantity, pack and spend limits) and ordering hours, such as weekdays 9 to 5.
Pro ($5.99 a month, or $4.99 billed yearly, 14-day trial): category and collection rules, rules for shoppers with a contact label such as Wholesale, limited runs that stop selling after a set number sold in total, sale start and end dates, and daily dish limits for Wix Restaurants orders. It has no reviews yet.

Where it's not the best fit:

  • Category rules on a free plan. Categories are Pro in mine. Checkout Rules by Aarsiv Groups includes category limits on its free plan (2 active rules).
  • Weight limits, or blocking PO boxes, postcodes or countries. Mine has no rules for these. Limitry (free), Order Rules & Restrictions and Checkout Rules do.
  • Once per customer across several orders. Mine has no per-customer rules. Checkout Rules Pro lists per-customer and first-order rules.
  • Bookings or other non-store items. Mine only counts Wix Stores products (and restaurant dishes, for the restaurant rules).
  • Free-shipping progress hints. CartWise or a progress bar app does that; mine only blocks or allows.

Fits best: cart-wide item minimums and packs on the free plan, plus wholesale-only minimums by contact label, product drops with a total sell-out cap or sale dates, and ordering hours.

Whatever you pick

  • Try the built-in options first. A minimum subtotal or Checkout Requirements may be all you need, and they're free and made by Wix.
  • Test with a real cart on your live site: under the limit, exactly at it, and over it.
  • Write a message that tells shoppers what to do, such as "Add 2 more bottles to make a case of 6", not only that something's wrong.
  • Don't stack apps that block checkout. Two rule apps can contradict each other and leave a shopper stuck.

FAQ

Can Wix set a minimum number of items for the whole cart?
Not with its built-in settings. Checkout Requirements counts each product on its own. Apps such as Limitry, Checkout Rules, StoreBoost Pro and Order Minimums & Limits count the whole cart.

Is there a free app for minimum order quantity on Wix?
Yes. Wix's Checkout Requirements is free, and Limitry and Limitify are listed as free. Several others have free plans with a rule limit.

How do I sell only in multiples of 6?
Sell the 6-pack as the product, or use an app with pack rules: StoreBoost, Checkout Rules, CartWise or Order Minimums & Limits.

Can I limit a product to 1 per customer?
Checkout Requirements can limit it to 1 per order. To stop the same customer ordering again, you need per-customer rules, such as Checkout Rules Pro.

Prices, ratings and review counts re-checked: 4 November 2026 (App Market pages and Wix help pages for the built-in minimum order amount). App feature descriptions: 23 October 2026. Spotted something out of date? Write to support@kayabyte.dev and I'll fix it.
