I get your point about HR in terms of verifying that a candidate did have said title and was employed from date a to date b, but disclosing salary only helps the company pay the person less. As long as companies refuse to disclose the pay range for a given position, the prospective candidate is at a HUGE disadvantage when it comes negotiating that amount.
