Shopify Schema Markup Checklist for 2026
Structured data doesn't directly move rankings the way content or backlinks do, but it's the difference between a plain blue link and a rich result with stars, price, and stock status — which is where the clicks actually go.
🏷️ Product Schema: The Non-Negotiable One
Price, availability, and aggregate rating need to be present and accurate on every product page. Most default Shopify themes include basic Product schema, but custom themes and heavily modified ones frequently drop it during redesigns without anyone noticing.
🍞 Breadcrumb and FAQ Schema
Breadcrumb schema helps Google understand site structure and often improves how your URL displays in results. FAQ schema on product or collection pages, where genuinely relevant Q&A exists, can win extra real estate in search results — but only add it where there's real content behind it, not as a ranking trick.
🔍 How to Actually Check This
Google's Rich Results Test on a handful of representative product, collection, and blog URLs takes ten minutes and catches most issues. Do it after every theme update — schema breaks silently more often than visible layout does.
