Drupal's 19/25 Rating and CVE-2026-108099: Reconciling Module Risk With CVSS 8.1

Drupal's 19/25 Rating and CVE-2026-108099: Reconciling Module Risk With CVSS 8.1

Drupal rates the Entity List vulnerability as critical at 19 of 25. The CVE record lists CWE-470 and CVSS 3.1 score 8.1. The two ratings can look inconsistent until their scope and purpose are separated [1][2].

Drupal's score is part of its security risk policy for the project. It combines the advisory's access conditions, authentication requirements, confidentiality, integrity, availability, exploit maturity, and target distribution. The 19/25 result supports a critical project classification. CVSS 3.1 score 8.1 is a technical severity calculation whose vector is AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H. High attack complexity lowers the numerical CVSS result even when the potential impact remains high.

Neither rating is a statement that every Drupal site is vulnerable. The advisory says Entity List before 3.0.10 is affected, the module alone is not directly exploitable, and other contributed modules or custom code must expose the vulnerable functionality. At least one known path does not require authentication [1].

Why the patch threshold should not wait for a perfect score

The vulnerable condition is easy to remove. Entity List 3.0.10 is the fixed release. The missing public details concern exploitation mechanics, not the existence of a supported fix. Waiting for a proof of concept would leave the vulnerable code in place while attackers and defenders both learn more.

For governance, the practical decision is to treat any site with the vulnerable module as requiring an update. Reachability review then determines whether additional containment is needed for custom or contributed integrations.

Risk communication

Avoid two unsupported statements:

  • "Entity List is installed everywhere, so the whole Drupal internet is vulnerable."
  • "The CVSS score is below 9, so the issue can wait."

The first ignores module and integration prerequisites. The second confuses a score with a remediation deadline.

A better statement is: CVE-2026-108099 affects Entity List before 3.0.10, can lead to remote code execution through other code, and has at least one known unauthenticated exploit path. The public advisory does not expose the full chain. Drupal rates the risk as critical and the CVE record describes a high-impact reflection injection. The patch is available.

Measurement and action

ZoomEye's app="Drupal" query returned 435,185 product-fingerprint matches on November 8, 2026. The CVE filter returned zero. The broad count cannot establish module-level exposure, and the zero result cannot rule out vulnerable sites [3].

Use local inventory to find Entity List versions. Use source review to find integrations that accept untrusted class selection. Use deployment verification to prove 3.0.10 is active. Record the residual uncertainty and keep the issue open until every affected environment has a verified outcome.
