NCTS Phase 5: A Technical Walkthrough of the IE Message Flow

Departure

  • IE015 — the declaration payload: consignment, house consignments, goods items, itinerary, guarantee, optional safety and security.
  • IE028 — allocation of the Movement Reference Number.
  • IE029 — release for transit and generation of the Transit Accompanying Document with an MRN barcode.
  • IE051 — office of departure declines the movement.
  • IE055 — guarantee refused.
  • IE056 — functional errors with field pointers.

    Transit

  • IE060 — control decision when customs elects to inspect.

  • Electronic office of incident messages when disruption occurs.

    Arrival and discharge

  • IE007 — arrival notification from the consignee.

  • IE043 — permission to unload granted.

  • IE044 — unloading remarks confirming the goods match the declaration.

  • IE045 — write-off, releasing the guarantee reserve.
The full sequence with rejection branches is documented in the iCustoms NCTS 5 IE015 to IE045 flow.

What your integration must handle

Idempotent MRN handling on IE028, error-code mapping for IE056, retry policy for IE051 and IE055, and clean state transitions between transit and arrival.

Design your integration once, then keep it out of the border. Watch a demo.
