A Korean Saju (사주, Four Pillars of Destiny) reading turns your birth date and time into four pillars — year, month, day, and hour — each a pair of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch. Here is how to actually read one, and a free tool that computes it for you.
The four pillars
| Pillar | What it represents |
|---|---|
| Year | Ancestry, early environment, the broad era you were born into |
| Month | Career, social self, parents |
| Day | You — the Day Master is the anchor of the whole chart |
| Hour | Children, later life, inner drive |
Reading order that actually works
- Find the Day Master (the day pillar's stem) — this is you.
- Weigh its strength against the season (the month branch) and the other pillars.
- Find the useful god — the element that balances a too-strong or too-weak Day Master.
- Only then read wealth, career, and relationship signals relative to the Day Master.
Why the date math matters
Month pillars switch on solar terms (절기), not calendar months, and the hour pillar depends on true local solar time. A reading built on the wrong term boundary is wrong from pillar two onward.
