Your first partner in PokéSurvivor matters more than it might seem. Permanent upgrades are bought per Pokémon, so the coins you spend early tend to go into the partner you picked at the start. A good first choice saves you grinding later.
Here is how three of the most-discussed starters compare on the game's own stats.
Sobble (Water) is the strongest all-round pick. It has high attack and speed, and as a Water type it moves at full speed through water, where most other partners get slowed down. Its Water Gun move evolves into Scald once you add a Power card, and rain boosts Water damage.
Scorbunny (Fire) has the best attack multiplier of any starter. Its Ember line gains extra projectiles and pierce when it evolves. The trade-off is weather: it shines in sun and struggles in rain.
Slowpoke (Water/Psychic) is the safe option. It has the most HP of any starter and a dual-type move pool, but it is the slowest of the group. That suits players who like to hold their ground rather than kite enemies. Psychic moves were toned down in an October update, so check the current numbers before you commit.
Litten and Treecko are the speed picks. With 107 speed they make kiting easier, which also helps when you chase the coin-carrying Meowth during events.
How to choose:
- Prefer to kite and stay mobile? Go with a speed starter.
- Prefer to tank and fight up close? Slowpoke fits better.
- Want the most damage per hit? Scorbunny is the one to test.
Whichever partner you pick, put your first coins into their upgrades, then use mission tickets in the gacha to unlock more. Once you have a partner, the Judgment of Arceus page on the wiki is a good next read. The wiki is updated as the game changes, so the numbers above may shift after a patch.
