I do appreciate good intentions, and I take BLM hundred percent seriously, but this might be taking things a bit ... too far? Especially since I've never seen the term "slave" branch (if that was the case, yes then you could argue it would be a different matter).
The good thing is that it's an opportunity to learn about various Git commands, but for the rest I would say this is a distraction and the time spent on this would be better spent reading or studying about the actual history of racism or inequality, no matter how well-intentioned all of this is.
