Two drawbacks remain: inferior keyboard, and small screen real estate. For those reasons I see it more as an "add on" option which would give you the ability to quickly do a little piece of work while on the road, but not realistically as a primary development machine.

Yes, valid point. Drawbacks are still absolutely true. However, the portability pays off enormously if you are on the go.
