How We Built a Zero-Dependency Multi-Agent Skill Compiler & 239-Gate Mutation Harness for Cursor, Claude Code, and Antigravity

Every week, thousands of developers publish custom AI agent skills, .cursor/rules/*.mdc files, and CLAUDE.md prompt instructions. Yet if you inspect those repositories two weeks after launch, nearly all of them suffer from the same four structural failures:

  1. Multi-Agent Target Drift: The author edits CLAUDE.md but forgets to update .cursor/rules/*.mdc or .agents/skills/*/SKILL.md. Within days, Cursor users and Claude Code users are running incompatible versions of the same skill.
  2. Monolithic Context Rot: Instead of progressive disclosure, creators dump 1,400 lines of prose into a single root instruction file. As Liu et al. (Stanford TACL 2023) proved in "Lost in the Middle", LLM instruction recall drops by 30% to 46% when directives are buried inside the middle of a bloated context window.
  3. Storefront & GEO Invisibility: Creators write 300 words of vague marketing adjectives with zero quantitative metrics, zero peer-reviewed citations, and raw Markdown tables that shatter into unreadable pipe characters (| col |) when pasted into Gumroad's TipTap editor.
  4. Potemkin Verification: The repository claims to be "automated and tested", but its test script only runs fs.existsSync() without ever executing the embedded code blocks against positive and negative mutation fixtures.

To solve these four failures permanently, we built the AI Skill & DevTool Commercialization Factory (@longwave-ai-lab/skill-commercialization-factory), an 8-stage, zero-dependency Node.js state machine and dual-layer verification harness.

You can inspect the verified skill specification on SkillsDirectory (longwave-ai-lab-open-core-skill-compiler) or clone the MIT Open-Core repository at github.com/longwave-ai-lab/skill-commercialization-factory.

1. Architecture of a Single-Source Multi-Agent Skill Compiler (Module 01)

Maintaining separate files for Cursor IDE, Claude Code, Google Antigravity, llms.txt, and npx installers by hand is an O(N) maintenance trap. In our factory architecture, engineers only ever edit two canonical inputs:

  • product.manifest.json (declaring metadata, pricing tiers, module IDs, Cursor file globs, and bidirectional test fixtures).
  • pro-bundle/rules/01..04.md (the canonical bilingual rule specifications containing embedded Node.js linters).

When you run node factory.mjs compile ., the compiler generates six synchronized targets deterministically:

Target 1: Root Context Index (CLAUDE.md & GEMINI.md <= 200 Lines)

Rather than loading 9,000 words of rule prose on every turn, the compiler generates a lightweight root routing table capped strictly below 200 lines (~950 tokens). This preserves 95.1% of the model's startup attention budget while pointing the agent to on-demand domain skills.

Target 2: Cursor IDE Rules (.cursor/rules/*.mdc)

Cursor requires YAML frontmatter at the top of every .mdc file so its file-watcher knows when to attach a rule. Our compiler prepends validated description, globs, and alwaysApply fields automatically:

---
description: "RULE-FACTORY-01: Open-Core Skill Packaging & Multi-Agent Compiler"
globs: "product.manifest.json, **/SKILL.md, **/*.mdc, **/CLAUDE.md, **/GEMINI.md"
alwaysApply: false
---

Target 3: Claude Code & Google Antigravity Skills (.claude/skills/ & .agents/skills/)

Both Claude Code and Google Antigravity use progressive skill discovery via <skill-slug>/SKILL.md. The compiler emits clean name and description frontmatter for each module and places the full bilingual specification inside .claude/skills/<slug>/SKILL.md and .agents/skills/<slug>/SKILL.md.

Target 4: Executable Node.js Linters (scripts/lint_*.mjs)

Following Yang et al. (Princeton / SWE-bench, arXiv:2405.15793), prose rules without executable linters decay within three turns. Our compiler parses the ## 3. Ready-to-Run Node.js Linter block inside each Markdown module and writes it directly to scripts/lint_*.mjs.

Target 5: Agent Discovery (llms.txt) & Zero-Install CLI (bin/cli.mjs)

To ensure autonomous coding agents and developers can test the repository in 30 seconds, the compiler generates a standard llms.txt index and an executable bin/cli.mjs supporting npx @longwave-ai-lab/skill-commercialization-factory --check and init <target-dir>.

Target 6: In-Memory POSIX .zip Paywall Isolation

Most Open-Core builders accidentally leak paid modules into their free starter archive or ship Windows backslashes (\) that fail on macOS and Linux. Our compiler includes a pure-Node.js in-memory ZIP builder (buildStoreZipBuffer) that normalizes all paths to POSIX forward slashes (/) and enforces strict paywall isolation between starter-free-pack.zip (Module 01 only) and pro-skill-commercialization-factory.zip (Modules 01..04).

For the full mathematical breakdown of context window decay and multi-agent compilation, read Monograph 01: Single-Source Skill Compilation & Multi-Agent Packaging (docs/01-single-source-skill-compilation-and-multi-agent-packaging.md).

2. Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) & TipTap Storefront Compilation (Module 02)

How do developers discover open-source AI tools today? Increasingly, they ask Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, Claude Web Search, or Google AI Overviews: "What is the best deterministic verification harness for Cursor and Claude Code skills?"

According to Aggarwal et al. (ACM SIGKDD 2024), generative search engines exhibit a strong citation bias toward repositories that provide:

  1. Machine-readable structured metadata (GEO-STRUCTURED-CITATION-METADATA YAML headers).
  2. Concrete quantitative metrics (<= 200 lines, 220..320 lines, >= 0.23 lexical diversity, 95.1% token savings) rather than qualitative adjectives.
  3. Authoritative peer-reviewed citations linking engineering constraints to published computer science research.

Solving the Gumroad TipTap HTML Paste Bug

Even when an engineer writes a great Markdown storefront document (GUMROAD-COPY-PASTE.md), pasting raw Markdown into Gumroad breaks tables and code blocks because Gumroad uses the TipTap Rich-Text editor.

Our compiler includes a deterministic compileMarkdownToTipTapHtml() pass that converts GUMROAD-COPY-PASTE.md into gumroad-package/GUMROAD-TIPTAP-PAYLOAD.html:

  • Markdown headings become clean <h3> and <h4> nodes.
  • Markdown tables (| Tier | Price |) are converted into clean <ul><li><strong>Col 1</strong> : Col 2</li></ul> lists because Gumroad's TipTap schema strips raw <table> tags.
  • Code blocks are HTML-escaped inside <pre><code>...</code></pre>.
  • Module 02's linter (lint_geo_storefront_engine.mjs) verifies that the compiled HTML contains at least 4 <p> tags, 5 <ul> blocks, 20 <li> items, both $0+ and $19 price tokens, and zero raw Markdown remnants ([GEO-004]).

Dive deeper into the 6-Tier Persuasion Architecture in Monograph 02: Generative Engine Optimization & 6-Tier Technical Copywriting (docs/02-generative-engine-optimization-and-6-tier-technical-copywriting.md).

3. Dual-Layer Verification & Adversarial Mutation Testing (Module 03)

The most dangerous trap in AI harness engineering is Potemkin Verification: writing a test script that always prints PASS because it only checks file existence or fabricates a 1.0 LLM confidence score when running offline.

In Module 03, we enforce a strict Dual-Layer Verification Architecture:

Layer 1: Deterministic Hard & Contextual Gates (239 Checks + Bidirectional Fixtures)

Every embedded linter (scripts/lint_*.mjs) must prove it works behaviorally during factory.mjs audit:

  1. The audit runner creates an isolated temporary directory containing a Fail Fixture (such as a CLAUDE.md file with 205 lines or a .mdc file missing YAML frontmatter) and executes the linter. If the linter returns exit code 0, the audit immediately fails ([HAR-003]).
  2. Next, the runner creates a Pass Fixture and executes the same linter, requiring exit code 0.

Solving the JavaScript Unicode Regex Boundary Trap for Bilingual Products

During our adversarial mutation testing (challenge_verification_suite.mjs), we uncovered a classic JavaScript regex bug that breaks almost every bilingual English/Vietnamese linter.

In JavaScript regular expressions, the standard word-boundary token \b only recognizes ASCII characters ([A-Za-z0-9_]). Accented Vietnamese letters like à, ự, ệ, and ố are classified by \b as non-word characters (\W). Consequently, a naive regex like /\bvà\b/i designed to catch headings that glue two unrelated topics together with the word "và" ("and") never matches " và "!

We replaced all ASCII \b boundaries with Unicode property lookarounds using the u flag:

// Matches "và" as a standalone word in full Unicode UTF-8 prose
const UNICODE_VA_REGEX = /(?<!\p{L})và(?!\p{L})/iu;

Layer 2: Honest Semantic Evaluation State Reporting (RULE-NORTH-STAR-ARBITRATION 6.4)

When running locally with --no-jev (skipping the external semantic LLM judge), our harness never fabricates a 1.0 pass probability. Instead, audit-report.json strictly separates executionState: "NOT_RUN" from verdict: "UNDETERMINED" and sets probability: null.

Read the complete specification in Monograph 03: Dual-Layer Deterministic & Semantic Verification Harnesses (docs/03-dual-layer-deterministic-and-semantic-verification-harnesses.md).

4. ToS-Compliant Omni-Channel Distribution & Zero-Link Engineering (Module 04)

Building and verifying a multi-agent skill product is only half the battle. Why do so many high-quality open-source repositories remain stuck at zero stars?

The Outbound Link Penalty in Developer Communities

Social platforms (Facebook Groups, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Reddit) actively penalize posts that contain external outbound links (https://..., github.com, gumroad.com) in the main post body because outbound links drive users off the platform's ad feed. Including a raw URL in the opening post reduces organic impression reach by 70% to 85%, and in moderated developer communities, it frequently triggers automated spam removal.

In Module 04 (ToS-Compliant Omni-Channel Distribution & Zero-Link Ops), we replace link-spamming with three deterministic engineering protocols:

  1. Zero-Link Main Posts + Retina 2K Visual Infographics (2400x1800):
    • Every Facebook community post (<!-- ZERO_LINK_POST_START -->) is written as a pure, standalone 180+ word technical story containing zero URLs, zero domain extensions, and zero commercial pricing tokens.
    • Instead of an outbound link, the post attaches a high-density Retina 2K (2400x1800) architectural diagram (01_fb_before_after_4_krankheiten.png or 02_fb_30s_drop_in_architecture.png). It ends with a natural Dual-Anchor pointer directing readers to the repository coordinates in the bottom corner of the image or the pinned post on the lab profile.
  2. 80/20 Trojan Horse Technical Comment Playbook (Dual-Ending A/B Rotation):
    • When answering technical threads in developer communities, 80% of the reply must diagnose the poster's exact mechanical bug (context rot, missing .mdc globs, TipTap table breakage, or broken ASCII regex boundaries) with immediately actionable advice.
    • Only the final 20% mentions our open-source toolkit, rotating strictly between Ending Variant A and Ending Variant B so consecutive replies never share identical footer strings.
  3. 3-Gram Jaccard Anti-Spam Guard (<= 0.50) & PAGE_READ_ONLY Safety Lock:
    • Before any post or comment is published, the operator runs node scripts/verify_facebook_ops_action.mjs.
    • The script computes the 3-gram Jaccard similarity between the draft text and all recent posts stored in facebook-ops-ledger.json, blocking execution (exit code 1) if similarity exceeds 0.50, if the weekly cap (3 posts/week) is reached, or if the target group is marked PAGE_READ_ONLY.

5. Inside the Zero-Dependency State Machine (factory.mjs) & Dual-Layer Receipt (product-state.json)

To make multi-product commercialization repeatable across every repository, we consolidated the build and verification logic into a single zero-dependency Node.js state machine (scripts/factory.mjs) backed by products-registry.json. Instead of maintaining fragile bash scripts for each repository, one CLI handles four deterministic lifecycle transitions:

  1. Stage 1 (factory.mjs init <product-dir>):
    • Scaffolds the complete 2-tier Open-Core folder hierarchy (pro-bundle/, github-repo/, gumroad-package/, distribution-kit/, scripts/, and starter-free-pack/).
    • Generates a canonical product.manifest.json declaring the product slug and pricing tiers ($0+ MIT Starter and $19 Pro Bundle). It also registers the 4 bilingual constitutional modules (01..04) and the 3 GEO technical monographs (docs/01..03.md).
  2. Stage 2 (factory.mjs compile <product-dir>):
    • Reads each rule specification in pro-bundle/rules/01..04.md and compiles synchronized .cursor/rules/*.mdc, .claude/skills/*/SKILL.md, and .agents/skills/*/SKILL.md files.
    • Extracts the embedded JavaScript linter from each module using a line-anchored fence parser. This parser safely handles nested 4-backtick blocks and inline triple-backtick regular expressions.
    • Generates root CLAUDE.md and GEMINI.md files under the 200-line attention ceiling, and builds llms.txt plus bin/cli.mjs. It then compiles GUMROAD-COPY-PASTE.md into gumroad-package/GUMROAD-TIPTAP-PAYLOAD.html and packs deterministic in-memory POSIX .zip archives.
  3. Stage 3 (factory.mjs audit <product-dir>):
    • Executes Layer 1 (HARD and CONTEXTUAL deterministic gates): manifest schema validation, file completeness, and PNG binary IHDR dimensions (1280x720, 600x600, 1280x640, 2400x1800).
    • Runs bidirectional pass/fail fixture execution on every extracted linter and standalone npx CLI roundtrip verification.
    • Enforces zero personal identity leaks across files and Git history, zero em-dashes or prose semicolons, and <= 45 words per sentence. It also checks for zero two-topic Vietnamese headings glued with và and verifies [FB-GATE-6..8] ToS compliance.
    • Executes Layer 2 (SEMANTIC structural rubrics and Jev Decision Integration): verifies the 6-Tier Persuasion Architecture (README.md >= 3,000 words, GUMROAD-COPY-PASTE.md >= 2,500 words). It also verifies 3 English and 3 Vietnamese Before/After Teardowns, peer-reviewed citations, and lexical diversity (>= 0.23) across all 3 GEO monographs.
    • Enforces strict separation between execution state (NOT_RUN, SUCCESS, TOOL_ERROR) and evaluation verdict (PASS, FAIL, HARD_FAIL, GREY_ZONE_WHITE_FLAG, UNDETERMINED). When Jev evaluation is skipped offline, the engine writes executionState: "NOT_RUN", verdict: "UNDETERMINED", and probability: null into product-state.json, never fabricating a fake 1.0 score.
  4. Stage 4 (factory.mjs status):
    • Reads products-registry.json and prints a live verification dashboard across all registered products (PROD-01, PROD-02, and PROD-03). It executes real verification scripts whenever a cached state receipt is absent.

6. Try the Open-Core Starter in 30 Seconds

You can inspect, audit, and install the Open-Core starter module in under 30 seconds using Node.js (>= 18):

  1. Run the zero-install npx diagnostic check:
    • Execute npx @longwave-ai-lab/skill-commercialization-factory --check in your terminal to verify your environment and inspect the multi-agent target table.
  2. Initialize the starter rules inside any existing repository:
    • Execute npx @longwave-ai-lab/skill-commercialization-factory init ./my-agent-project to copy .cursor/rules/01-open-core-skill-packaging-compiler.mdc, .claude/skills/, .agents/skills/, CLAUDE.md, GEMINI.md, product.manifest.json, llms.txt, package.json, and scripts/lint_open_core_compiler.mjs.
  3. Run the standalone Module 01 Linter:
    • Execute node scripts/lint_open_core_compiler.mjs . to verify that your root context files stay under 200 lines and all multi-agent targets are synchronized.
npx @longwave-ai-lab/skill-commercialization-factory --check
