I Built an Animated Clock Wallpaper App with Flutter — Looking for Android Beta Testers

Hi DEV Community! 👋

I'm Seung, an independent developer from South Korea.

I've been working on LUMITICK, an Android app that turns your home screen into an animated clock experience using Flutter.

The idea started with a simple question: What if your phone's clock could be more than just numbers on a screen?

What I've built

LUMITICK currently includes:

  • 🕒 Animated analog and digital clock live wallpapers
  • 🎨 Customizable clock faces, hands, and backgrounds
  • 🌍 World clocks with multiple city time zones
  • 📱 Analog and digital home screen widgets
  • 🖼️ The ability to create clock designs using your own photos
  • ✨ Special animated clock themes

What has been challenging

One of the most interesting challenges has been making the clock behave consistently.

A clock might look perfect inside the Flutter app, but applying it as an Android live wallpaper introduces additional challenges.

I've been working on keeping the clock hands, animations, and time settings consistent between the app preview and the actual home screen.

I'm also testing battery consumption, animation smoothness, and compatibility across Android devices.

As a solo developer, there are many things I can't fully test on my own.

I'm looking for Android beta testers!

LUMITICK is currently in Google Play testing, and I'd really appreciate feedback from fellow Android users and developers.

I'm particularly interested in:

  1. Does the live wallpaper work correctly on your device?
  2. Are the clock hands and animations smooth and easy to read?
  3. Do you notice unusual battery consumption?
  4. Do the widgets and world clocks work as expected?
  5. What would you improve before the public launch?

How to join the beta

Step 1: Join the Google Group to get access to the test:

Step 2: Using the same Google account, join the Google Play test:

Some optional designs and widgets use rewarded ads. The app currently supports English and Korean.

This is my first Android app project, and I'm still learning and improving it.

Even a few minutes of testing or a short comment would mean a lot.

Thank you for reading! 🙏

I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially from anyone who has worked with Flutter, Android widgets, or live wallpapers.
