Hi DEV Community 👋,
Earlier this year, I purchased an MSI Katana A15 from a store in Lima, Peru (Fabritec), to support my creative workflow using tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects. I don’t game – I just needed a powerful machine for my design work.
Unfortunately, from the very beginning, the laptop has shown multiple issues:
Touchpad and space bar become unresponsive when charging
Random restarts and black screens
"Automatic Repair" loop on boot
Total display failure while working
I sent it twice to Fabritec's warranty department. They said everything was fine. They even sent it to their provider, DM Computo, who returned it claiming there’s no issue. However, once back home, the same problems came back — nothing was fixed.
To make matters worse:
The device came with 16GB RAM; I paid for an upgrade to 32GB, and they never returned the original RAM
They now claim MSI Peru won’t cover warranty because the keyboard isn’t Spanish-layout — even though it was sold in Peru
This machine cost me over 7000 soles (~$1800) and I'm still paying it off. I feel completely let down as both the seller and support system are avoiding responsibility.
I’m posting here because I’ve seen how strong the DEV community can be when it comes to sharing experiences, offering advice, or raising visibility. If anyone has experienced similar issues with MSI laptops or dealt with warranty denial due to keyboard layout, I’d really appreciate your input.
Also, if anyone from MSI CESER in Lima, Peru is reading this — please help. I have all the video evidence and logs proving the device is defective.
Let’s make tech companies more accountable.
Thanks in advance. 🙏
