At one time during dev I actually styled them the way you described, but I switched back to classic style as they were pretty hard to notice ππ
You can still find them used in this post, for example, where I use them as X-axis scrolls for code snippets.
I just commented them out for the main Y-axis, the code is still there and I might use it again if I change my mind ππ
